Ardent Credit Union in Philadelphia has introduced a novel 7-month "Slam Dunk CD" with interest rates tied to the Villanova men's basketball team's home game results. Wins boost the annual percentage yield (APY) to 4.25%, while losses revert it to a 3.90% base rate. The promotional rate extends for 30 days after a final home game victory on March 7, 2026.

Despite its creative marketing, the product's rates remain uncompetitive compared to broader financial offerings. Nationwide availability requires credit union membership, achievable through employer partnerships, household affiliations, or free enrollment in the American Consumer Council. Applications close February 28, 2026.
